Wes Schaefer, Vice Chairman, was one of the original organizers and founders of American Business Bank, a commercial bank specializing in serving medium-sized companies throughout Southern California.
With nearly forty years in banking, Schaefer left his position at Mellon 1st Business Bank to co-found American Business Bank with four other partners. He manages the Bank’s $750 million investment portfolio in addition to overseeing the administration of the Bank’s day-to-day operations, including the Bank’s facilities, systems and more than one hundred employees.
Schaefer graduated from California State University, Northridge in 1973 with a BS in Business Administration. He began his career as a management trainee with Union Bank. After twelve years with Union Bank he resigned to become Senior Vice President and Cashier of Mellon 1st Business Bank, in downtown Los Angeles. During his tenure he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the bank, seeing it grow from $100 million in assets to $1.2 billion in assets.
He is a member of the Rotary Club, LAEDC, Financial Managers Society and Town Hall.
